Job Description

We are a nature tech, impact-driven scale-up that supports corporates and public authorities in creating value through the regeneration of biodiversity

We aim to improve biodiversity through our various programs. Amongst others, we help customers monitor their sites for pesticides, heavy metals and biodiversity thanks to nature-based solutions (e.g. via little agents – bees) and software/tech. We’re a growing company of around 30 people, active worldwide. More about us in a five minutes video (French, English subtitles).

We recently won a significant funding from the EU for our BeeoImpact and Beeometrics projects that would bring our impact to a much bigger scale thanks to software.

Beeoimpact is a platform that allows anyone to get a risk evaluation about agricultural impact, biodiversity and heavy metals presence in a single click, by leveraging information like soil type, crops and others.

Beeometrics is a set of Wild Bees hotels that operate as super small biodiversity monitoring stations.

The dev and data team is around 7 people, including our Head of Engineering, Charlotte. Together, we design, code, deploy and maintain multiple web applications with their related data pipelines. We also support bioengineer work and activities, by automating manual processes.

We’re expanding our development team to tackle those projects and are looking for a Senior Front-End Developer to join us.

Responsibilities

What we expect you to do: Help us develop and expand our web applications.

We’re product engineers – we see collaboration between us and interactions with stakeholders as part of our jobs, ensuring that what we deliver is providing actual value to our customers.

As a team we’re responsible for the whole software cycle – from interacting with shareholders to giving support to customers with the application, including UX, data ingestion, backend & front end, deploy and monitoring.

We expect you to work mostly on the frontend, but an experience or interest in backend, data and/or UX is always welcome – sometimes you need a small tweak to an API, and it can be better/faster to do it yourself.

Because of your seniority level, we also expect you to support our junior colleagues and to take ownership of tasks, features or even products.

Some practical examples of tasks:

  • Propose and implement a set of screens to better visualize pesticides risk around a site using a combination of data, explanations, charts and maps
  • Allow Admin Users to easily manage users for their accounts – sending invites, updating access rights, disabling users and so on.

We also want you to take part in technical and products decisions and make sure our application can be maintained efficiently.

Our stack

  • Front End: React, TypeScript, Shad, React Router, Leaflet
  • Back End: Django, Python, DRF
  • Data: Pandas, Postgresql, PostGis

Languages

  • English

Benefits

We are an hybrid company - we expect you around 2 days per week at our offices in Brussels or Nivelles - those days are not fixed, but we generally try to be together once in a while.

We offer standard employee benefits

Interview process

First review is done based on your CV + information you send us by email. We check blocking points such as experience with the technologies or location.

If those pass, we'll invite you for a meeting with our Head of Engineering A second round is done with the team (your future colleagues) as a way to know each other better A third and final round is done by our CEO

At some point we may ask you to come with any code you have and can share in order to have a conversation around it - but we'll tell you that in advance.
